Terail B. Island Sr. Obituary

Terail Bernard Island Sr, age 48, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at UC San Diego Medical Center- Hillcrest. He was born July 14, 1974, in San Diego, California to Willie Bernard Island and Renee Alexander. Terail graduated from Morse High School. Terail was married to Nikia Island on July 8, 2006, in Riverside, California. Terail held various jobs throughout his lifetime, however what he enjoyed the most and made a career out of was working with and mentoring at risk youth, and adolescents with developmental disabilities. Terail worked for Small Steps Group Home continuously for over 6 years as a Facility Manager ill Rialto, California. The children/youth he worked with in the community and while at Small Steps Group Home, absolutely loved and adored him and he was very influential in their lives.

Terail  is survived by his parents, Willie Bernard Island and Renee Alexander; his wife, Nikia Island; his son, Terail Bernard Island Jr; his mother in law, Yvonne Pierre aka "Boss Lady;" his sister in law Briana Childs; his siblings, Shawntee Dawson, Johnny Gonzaba, Andrew Island; his grandmother, Dorothy Lee Ellis; his Aunts, Earnstine Spain, Eunice Denise Ellis, Yolanda Michelle Ellis and Kassandra Lynn Ellis; his Uncles, Johnny Island, Jessie Island, Larry D. Ellis, Terrel Spain; his nephews, Tyrek Norris, Aaron and Aiden Lett, Damitrius and Manuel McKinney; his nieces, Jahvon Pierre, Kali and Jameela McKinney. He is predeceased by his sister, Sheila Denise McKinney, his brother, Michael Gonzaba, his grandmother Virginia Mae Alexander; his grandfather's Nathaniel Ellis Sr and Alphonso Alexander, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom he called brothers and sisters.

Terail truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with his family and friends, watching all kinds of sports, enjoying all kinds of cuisines and genres of music. Terail loved to frequent various beaches and enjoyed attending countless musical festivals and concert venues. Terail had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Terail touched the lives of whomever he met in life. You instantly fell in love with his smile, big personality, charisma, and charm. He was truly a lover of people from all walks of life. He was a loving and caring person and always thinking of others first. To know him was to love him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
