Richard Lee Felton

Richard Lee Felton (77) passed away on February 24, 2025, after a valiant battle with dementia. He was born on September 8, 1947, in Holly Ridge, Louisiana, to John and Mary Felton. He was the youngest of four, which included two brothers, John Felton Jr. and Henry Felton, and a sister, Mary Reid. 

Richard moved with his family to Los Angeles, California, in 1961. He graduated from Centennial High School in 1965. He joined the United States Marine Corps that same year and served as a mechanic in San Diego and Japan during the Vietnam War. 

Richard had a long-standing love of basketball, which led to his introduction to Marilyn Rogers in 1973, whom he married less than a year later. They had two daughters, Mistique Felton and Kendra Oliver. 

In 1984, he married Nafira Gaines, who preceded him in death. 

Richard had a lifelong interest in fixing things and spent many years working as a lawn mower mechanic before retiring. He accepted the Lord at an early age and, as an adult, was a member of the men's choir at Faithful Central Bible Church. When Richard relocated to San Bernadino, he joined the City of Hope Church under Dr. Stacy Robertson. He later moved to Riverside with his sister, Mary Reid, and nephew, Craig (Dana) Furlow. 

Richard loved playing dominos and cards, watching sports, and eating good food. He remembered his family even in the end and will be missed. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers, and nieces Miasha and Tina. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: His sister Mary Reid, sister-in-law Sadie Felton, daughters Mistique Felton and Kendra (Rashad) Oliver, grandchildren Arion Felton, Nathan Oliver, and Kallie Oliver, great-grandson David Blake, nieces and nephews Eric McDaniel, Craig (Dana) Furlow, Rhonda (Marc) Rafael, Kimberly Furlow, Andra Felton, Danny Wallace, Terrance Wallace, and extended family and friends.
