Regina Carmel Jackson began her life’s journey on August 23,1955 in San Francisco, California. She was the first of eight children born to the late Frances LaVern Hendrix and John Edward Lewis.
Regina spent most of her childhood in Oakland, California where she attended Castlemont High School. At an early age it was clear Regina had an innate love to care for others. The desire to care for others led to a 35+ year career in the Home Health Care Provider Industry. Throughout her life she was a mentor, role model and an inspiration to her twelve siblings and many others. She was a wonderful mother to 3 children and absolutely adored her 6 grandchildren. Regina was also an attentive and loving wife to her husband Jeff whom she wed in 2008.
Regina’s interests included a passion for the arts. She enjoyed painting, poetry, designing and creating everything from unique fashion pieces, jewelry, and spiritual tools to decorating her own beautiful home with her own personalized items. Regina also enjoyed gardening, music, meditation, reading and spending time with her family.
Regina departed this life on August 13, 2021, joining her parents, grandparents, uncle and ancestors who preceded her in death. We take comfort in knowing she is now in their company.
She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory, her husband Jeffry Cockrell of Moreno Valley, Ca.; daughters Camille Jackson and Rajeeyah Muhammad; son Haleem Jamall Faquir (Angela) and step-son Khalif Davis; 6 grandchildren: Haleem Jamall, Jr., Chase Hodge, India Faquir, Samarra Rose Faquir, Anaya Jones, Surraiya Jones; 10 sisters: Roslyn Lewis, Rhonda Lewis, Renee Lewis (Taj-Uddin), Raneen Lewis, Rajonna Saine (Musa), Portia Williams (Steven), Lajeanne Perry (Rodney), Jamilah Lewis, Ayesha Lewis and Najla Youngblood; brothers Jon-Jon Lewis (Erin) and Rashaad Shabazz; grandmother Sister Dorothy Rivers, aunt Sharon Barlow and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
