Ora Mae Rice was born February 22, 1920, in Phoenix, Arizona to Tom Taylor and Lela Ellen Pass. She was the 10th born of 11 children Corrine, Tom Jr., Lorine, Hattie, Lenora, Addie Mae, Bernice, Willard, Helen Louise and Robert. Ora received her formal education in the Phoenix Public School District.
Ora accepted Christ at an early age as her Lord and Savior. She found her church home at Living Way Christian Fellowship under the leadership of Pastor Harold E. Webber.
Ora met Walter Rice the love of her life and the happy couple were married on May 8, 1954. Ora and Walter became a blended family and added to their union Paula Rice, Myron Dale Rice, Kendale Rice, Michael Rice, Anthony Taylor and Larry Rice. Ora was a homemaker and a great mother to her children.
Ora loved her to attend her social groups such as, The Old 100-Gospel Group, The Inspirations, A Ordained Minister, Missionary Work with feeding the homeless and helping the sick in shut in.
Ora had a great sense of humor that could light up any room. She was loving and friendly, but could become feisty to get her point across.
Ora loved her quiet time so she could read her bible and would also enjoy singing her hyms. In her spare time Ora caught up on some of her favorite television shows, Little House on Prairie and religious shows.
Ora will always be remembered for her “hey honey” and spreading the Lords messages letting people know to “Praise the Lord.” She truly was a faithful servant of the Lord with showing her dedication of God’s work.
On January 31, 2021, Ora was called home to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her mother Lela Ellen Pass and father Tom Taylor; siblings: Corrine, Tom Jr., Lorine, Hattie, Lenora, Addie Mae, Bernice, Willard, Helen Louise and Robert; husband Walter Rice and three sons Michael, Tony and Larry.
Ora leaves to cherish her memories, children: Paula Rice, Myron Dale Rice and Kendale Rice; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephews: Donna Aubrey, Edna Wiliams, Alice Ricks, Vernon Russel, Jimmy Chambers and James Taylor; daughter-in-love Connie Rice and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
