Michael Dean Butterfield was: born December 22, 1965 in Anaheim, California to Jerry and Mary Butterfield.
He was a surviving twin. His brother, James preceded him in death at two days of age.
Michael passed away in his home in Moreno Valley, California surrounded by loving family, his parents Mary and Jerry were by his side.
He leaves behind his three sons, Byron Watson (Kae), Brice Simpson (Yadera), and Billy Butterfield (Chelsea) and their families.
He loved his grandchildren, Aaliyah 15, Leyna13, Cory 14, Brody 10, Anuhea 7, Gauge 6, Emma 3, and Sihtric 3 month.
He also leaves behind his brother John (Shiloh) and two nephews Jacob and Nathaniel.
His dog Keisha is mourning his absence.
He spent his life serving his country in the United States Air Force.
Michael enlisted into the United States Air Force on the 12th of September 1984. He attended basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Upon graduation from basic training, he attended technical school at Chanute Air Force Base in Champaign, Illinois. Michael’s dedication to his country had him traveling to multiple locations around the world. He was stationed at Misawa Air Force Base, Japan from 1985 to 1989, Zweibrucken Air Force Base, Germany from 1989 to 1991, Homestead AFB, Florida from 1991 to 1992, and then Holloman AFB, New Mexico from 1992 to 1994 before leaving active military duty and returning home to Apple Valley, California with his family.
After September 11, 2001, Michael believed it was his patriotic duty to reenter the military to serve his country again. By December 2001, he had enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves and was assigned to the 452nd Maintenance Squadron at March ARB, CA. He deployed multiple times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2009 he became an Air Reserve Technician (ART) and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant (E-7). During his distinguished career in the United States Air Force, he was awarded several medal and commendations for his hard and continues dedication to this country.
