Mercidese Gordon, born on October 16, 1930, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved daughter of Julius Fletcher and Elvira Jackson-Fletcher, both of whom preceded her in death. Mercidese was the cherished sibling among 17 brothers and sisters, with whom she shared a deep bond.

A devoted mother, Mercidese was blessed with nine children. She now joins in eternal rest four of her children who preceded her in death: Doris J. Howard, Bobby L. Howard, Darrell Howard, and Melody Howard. Her legacy continues through her surviving children: Ronnie J. Howard (Alma Howard) of Stanton, CA; Espronza A. Smith (Tia); Ty Robinson (Michelle Robinson) of Charles County, MD; Guinevere Pittman (Amadeus Pittman) of Moreno Valley, CA; and Joyce Gordon of Hemet, CA.  In addition, she also leaves a multi-generation of grandchildren that will always carry on her love and devotion (29 Grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 11 Great-great grandchildren).

Mercidese was a woman of profound faith, whose love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. Her hobbies included knitting, dancing, playing Keno, enjoying Lottery Scratchers, and listening to gospel music, especially the soulful sounds of Andraé Crouch.

With a career spanning 45 years as a Dietician Supervisor at Valley Convalescent, Mercidese was known for her dedication and hard work, retiring at the remarkable age of 85. She pursued her education at Chaffey College, earning a certificate as a certified food handler.

Throughout her life, Mercidese was blessed with the love of three devoted men: Robert Leroy Howard, Mr. Robinson, and Ben Eugene Gordon, all of whom preceded her in death. Her relationships were a testament to the love and joy she brought into the lives of those around her.

Mercidese’s vivacious spirit, quick wit, and sassy, fun-loving nature made her a joy to all who knew her. She lived her life with fullness and joy, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience.

Mercidese Gordon will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
