Lillie M. Barr Obituary

Lillie Marie Barr 88, of Moreno Valley California passed on Sunday September 24, 2023 at home with her husband, daughter, granddaughter and great grandson, She was born December 1, 1934 to Roy Carnes and Minor Lee Johnson in Palmetto Florida. She attended grade school and Blake High School in Tampa Florida. After schooling she became a certified Cosmetologist and LVN and worked at Tampa General Hospital.

In 1963 she met William Barr, a USAF Airman and after a short courtship they were married in April of 1964. William soon learned that she loved fishing and crabbing, as she was a lover of sea food. They traveled the nation and Europe together, and finally landed at March AFB in California where they made it their home,

Lillie was a loving spirit, and she never met a stranger. She could talk to anyone and she always had conscerns for others. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and sometime sewing. She found joy in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. After retiring she was a volunteer transportation driver for seniors at Riverside Community Hospital in Moreo Valley.

She worshiped at New Hope missionary Baptist Church in Perris California where she became a member in 1978 under Pastor Montgomery. In 1986 she became a charter member of Vinelife Christian Fellowship under Pastor and founder Robert L. Wilks in Riverside California where she was an usher, and worked helps ministry.

Lillie is proceeded in death by her mother and father Roy and Minor Lee Carnes; brothers Roy Carnes Jr. and Mitchell Cabrera and sister Felicia Winfield. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, William Barr, daughter Brenda Barr-Burroughs, grand daughter Ashley Burroughs and great grandson Orion Mathews (of Moreno Valley), granddaughter Genell Burroughs of Reno Nevada, Sister Benita Cabrera (Tampa Fl); Nieces: Ladonia Frierson (Derek) of Tampa and Phylis Carnes (NY); Nephews: Kevin Jackson (Amy), Keith Jackson of Arizona; Billy Bryant, Deric Sheppard and Gerald Sheppard of Tampa FL; Dale Carnes and Rudy Carnes of New York. Cousin Sylvia Kelly (Robert) of Palmetto Fl.  Special long time friends: Susan and Roger Hunter; Sallie Morton and Maxine Hall.  And a host of other Cousins, Relatives and friends.

We invite you to join us In a Homegoing service to  celebrate the remarkable life of Lillie Marie Barr. It will be held at Vinelife Christian Fellowship, 4183 Fairgrounds  St. Riverside CA 92501 . Viewing: 10:30;  Service 11:30 and Burial at Riverside National at 2:00 pm. 

The Barr family wish to thank everyone for their prayers and support over the past months, it has meant the world to us. AS we bid farewell to Lillie, let us hold her spirit in our hearts, cherishing the memories we shared and love she imparted.
