Jerry L. Addison Obituary

On Wednesday January 1, 2025,  Jerry Lee Addison was called home at the age of 74.Jerry’s Family has lost a great husband, father, grandfather (Papa), great grandfather, brother, uncle and leader.

Jerry Lee was born in Whiteville, North Carolina, on June 16th, 1950 to his mother Cora Lee Addison and father Norman Shipman. Jerry Lee Addison had many childhood memories such as singing in the church choir, going fishing, and hunting. Jerry relocated after his mother passed away when he was just fifteen. Jerry moved in with his twin Aunts Rosalie and Eloise Addison in Brooklyn, New York. While adjusting to his new life in New York he maintained interests in dancing, arts and crafts, and reading the bible. Jerry was an aspiring musician, photographer, and worked at a veterinarian office as a teen. Jerry Lee discovered his real passion for adventure and freedom while living in New York. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17. During his twenty year enlistment he earned Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, Small Arm Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and became a Air Force Honor Flight Member. After his service in the Air Force he entered into civilian life and relocated his family to San Bernardino, CA and pursued private security and investigation. He later discovered entrepreneurship and became a multiple business owner and truck driver for thirty-one years until his health declined.

If you asked him, his greatest accomplishment wasn’t his military career, or being a master tradesman, it was being a father and a provider. Jerry Lee Addison met his wife Fannie Lee Addison through grade school in his hometown in North Carolina. After reconnecting years later in New York at a small church they later got married in Queens, New York on October 23rd, 1971 both at the age of twenty-one. After the wedding they both relocated to Okinawa, Japan and spent almost 20 years overseas. Their love grew into fifty-three beautiful years of marriage. That produced two daughter's Naneice Addison and Shirlena Addison.

Jerry Lee leaves his cherish memories to his wife Fannie Lee Addison and two daughter's Naneice Addison, Shirlena Addison. Two granddaughter's Savina Addison, Alyssa Addison, and Three Great grandchildren Liam Jerry Addison, Mia Dial, Ava Dial. Jerry was preceded in death by his Mother Cora Lee Addison and Father Norman Shipman.
