Doris E. Jones
God knew that the world would never be the same the day that Doris Elizabeth Thomason took her first breath. She was born on November 7, 1932, in Los Angeles, California, to Theodore and Lula Thomason. Her mother and father were truly blessed the day she was born.
Doris spent her elementary school years in Los Angeles, where she later graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1951. She went on to continue her education at Pasadena and Los Angeles City Colleges, where she earned her Associate in Arts Degree in 1953.
In 1955 she gave birth to her first son Dennis De Ville in Pasadena, California. In 1960, Doris was blessed with a second son, Ray Jones.
Doris worked steadfastly for the Los Angeles Police Department in the Records and Investigations unit for twenty-seven years. She retired as a Senior Records Technician in 1984.
From childhood, she was a member of the renowned Second Baptist Church of Los Angeles along with her mother Lula. In later years, she faithfully attended Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church in Pasadena. In 1988 Doris moved to the Inland Empire and joined Ecclesia Christian Fellowship, where she was a member for many years. Later, Doris joined Abundant Living Family Church, where she attended with her son Dennis.
Doris was an avid reader and devoted herself to the Scriptures. She was also a Jeopardy fan and loved crossword puzzles. But cooking was her principal hobby where she excelled and even amassed a considerable collection of culinary books.
Doris was not only a mother of two. She was also the proud grandmother of Aja and Dennis Jr. Great Grandmother of Amirah, Josiah, Athena, Ava, Arie, Jaxon, and Mikoto.
She leaves behind much wisdom, knowledge, compassion, love for people, and faith in God, which she worked to instill in many of those around her. Although Doris will be physically absent from us for now and present with the Lord, her spirit will remain with us because she lives on in each and every one of our hearts.
