David Mendoza was born in Los Angeles on April 6,1930 as the first born son of Frank and Angelina Mendoza. David attended Alhambra High School, where he was introduced to his future wife Joan Reuter by his brother Fred. After high school, he worked at Zellerbach Paper Company until he entered the US Army in September 1950. David and Joan were married in 1953 and raised their three sons in Temple City. He enjoyed and was very active in his sons’ activities. Following his discharge from the Army, David returned to Zellerbach where he worked for more than 35 years and made many life long friends. After retiring from Zellerbach, David continued his successful sales career as an independent operator. David and Joan had a very active social life. Few weekends passed when they weren’t having a great time with some of their many friends. They enjoyed traveling and took a number of memorable trips with friends and family. David enjoyed golf and the time on the course with his many golfing buddies. He had a chance to play some of the most famous courses in the world, including Pebble Beach and St. Andrews. David had a quick wit, an infectious laugh and enjoyed needling his friends and family. He was always quick to laugh, very slow to anger and someone everyone enjoyed being with. David remained vibrant until the very end. He is survived by Joan, his loving wife of 67 years, his brother Fred, David’s three sons, Gary, Mark and Dale, their wives Joylenn, Nancy and Cheryl, his six grandchildren Kyle, Marcy, Gregory, Matthew, Michael and Alex and his seven great grandchildren. David will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.
