Capp W. Wormley Jr.

Capp Wyatt Wormley II was born May 3, 1938, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to Capp Wormley Sr. and Mable Jeanette McKnight. He was the eighth child of twelve. He was educated at Booker T. Washington High School, in El Reno, Oklahoma.

In 1956, he was enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his discharge, he moved to Riverside, California where he worked for the United States Postal Service, as a mail carrier. It was while carrying mail on his bicycle that he met Sarah Katherine Mclean. In April of 1960, they married and had three children, Capp III, Bryon, and Sharon.

After a few years, he left the postal service to pursue a career with the California Department of Corrections, initially as a correctional officer, then as a correctional counselor. He worked in various prisons throughout his career, from Northern to Southern California. While working as a correctional officer, Capp attended Riverside Community College and Chapman College. 

He was an avid reader, loved genealogy, and had a never-ending quest for knowledge of many subjects. He often shared interesting articles by sending them to family members via mail.

In January of 1969, he married Alberta Yvonne Asberry and had one child, Anthony. He retired after more than 15 years of working as a correctional officer.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, from his children to great-grandchildren. He was a snazzy dresser who loved clothes, hats, and shoes. He loved watching Monday night football and would often shorten a conversation on the phone if his favorite team was playing. He was a man of few words. He also enjoyed building things and gardening. He considered himself a bonafide cowboy and farmer.

Capp is survived by his two sons, Bryon D. Wormley (Felicia), Anthony D. Wormley; daughter, Dr. Sharon E. Wormley-Carter (Sekou); sister, Gladys Wynn (Dave); grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
