Obituary Ann Dunham
Ann Dunham passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the age of 93 on September 12, 2024 in Riverside, California. She was born on October 22, 1930 in Norwood, Colorado to Clifton and Lois Dunham.
While her family lived in Compton, California during WWII, Ann cared for her two brothers, Duane and Davy, while her mother and father supported the war effort as welders at Northrop Aerospace. In her early teens, Ann became quite the pianist, performing in front of 4,000 people at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium at the age of 15.
At the age of 17, Ann married Keith Kummerfeld on April 14, 1948. Ann shared her love of the piano with their three sons, Raymond, Jack, and Thomas, as they sang along. Besides raising sons, Ann grew beautiful, enormous African violet plants as a member of an African Violet Club. Over time, Ann also grew in the Lord and decided to follow Jesus at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Southern California in the 1960s.
Ann’s vivacious personality led her to live many exciting years in Las Vegas. She hosted, waitressed, and served as assistant manager at the Riviera Hotel and Casino coffee shop. Ann was also employed in numerous stints as an unarmed security guard for the Las Vegas Municipal Police Department.
Ann loved chatting and her lively, uninhibited laughter brought joy to the room. She treasured capturing memories and always had a camera. Ann was a fan of chocolate and enjoyed her cups of coffee. She was fond of jewelry and would daily select colorful necklaces and earrings to match her outfits. “Grandma Ann” loved giving gifts to her grandchildren as she provided snacks and lovingly crocheted caps, blankets, and ponchos. Ann continued playing the piano as long as she could. When she visited family in Texas, she was able to share a special moment at the piano with one of her great-granddaughters who now prays that her Great-grandma Ann will have fun in heaven.
Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Ann Dunham; her father, Clifton Davis Dunham; her brother, Davy Dunham; her son, Jack Kummerfeld; her husband, Keith Kummerfeld; her husband, Donald Tanner; and her husband, Joseph Haughaboo.
She is survived by her brother, Duane Dunham (Gail) of Molalla, Oregon; her son, Raymond (Marilyn) Kummerfeld of Weatherford, Texas; her son, Thomas (Pearl) Kummerfeld of Riverside, California; her daughter-in-law, Sun Kummerfeld of Cocoa, Florida; and her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
