Allen Bradford Jr. was born on June 23, 1946, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Allen Bradford Sr. and Marie Jones. He was the fourth eldest of twelve siblings. Allen spent his formative years in the Scotlandville community of Baton Rouge, where he developed strong values rooted in family, faith, and hard work.
Allen graduated from Scotlandville Senior High School on May 25,1965 and enlisted in the United States Army on February 7, 1966. He completed his military training at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland and served in Berlin, Germany. Allen received an honorable discharge on January 20, 1969. Shortly after returning home from military service, he relocated to Los Angeles, California.
Allen later settled in Perris, California, where he began a long and distinguished career with the Southern California Gas Company on May 31, 1977. He worked as a welder for 31 years until his retirement on June 30, 2008. Known as a dependable and highly skilled craftsman, Allen served as a manager on many large-scale projects. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to doing things the right way—never cutting corners—earned him great respect. He took pride in mentoring young employees and was a valued leader to many.
In retirement, Allen found great joy in attending his grandchildren’s school performances and sporting events, as well as spending cherished time with his family and friends.
Allen was known for his generosity, kindness, humility, and strong character. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Allen was preceded in death by his father, Allen Bradford Sr., mother Marie Jones, sister Alice Mae Bradford Thomas (Eddie Thomas, deceased) and brother Johnnie Bradford (Mary Louise Bradford).
Allen is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bradford; his sons, Mario Lee, Gilbert Correa, Enoch Correa, DeAndre Bradford (Annie Chu-Bradford) and Xavier Bradford; grandchildren Shoshaunna Lee, Isaiah Correa, Elijah Correa, Madison Bradford, Lauren Bradford and Josiah Correa; and his siblings, Marie Taylor (deceased Authur Taylor), Jessie Monjet (Justina Monjet), Willie Bradford (Mary Francis Bradford), Joseph Bradford (Delores Bradford), Matthew Charles Bradford (Jenois Bradford), Lovie Mae Butler (Elder Dennis Butler, deceased), James Edward Bradford (Eloise Bradford), Delores Bradford and Patricia Bradford; sisters-in-law Mary Bradford (Johnnie Bradford, deceased) Julia Crawford (Bobbie Crawford Sr., deceased); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews
